Dear Friend,

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8

I am praying these verses over my partners and friends during these days. I pray that you will be encouraged to put and keep your trust in the Lord which, according to these verses, will eliminate fear and anxiety and in their place will bring stability and fruitfulness to your life regardless of what is going on around you. Thank You, Jesus, for this powerful word!

Long overdue update . . .

So I won’t make any excuses . . . it has, indeed, been too long since I have communicated. All I can say is that this summer and fall have been unlike any I have ever experienced! I will try not to make this too long, but I do want to update you on my ministry activities and also share some family news.

Ministry Update

Since my last newsletter, I have been quite busy with ministry events each month. My travels have taken me to Oklahoma (twice), Kentucky (twice), West Virginia (twice), Tennessee, Alabama (twice), Pennsylvania, Georgia, Ohio, North Carolina, Florida, and Virginia. In addition to typical ministry events, I’ve had a few unusual (for me) opportunities - I was on staff at the Charles Novell School of Music for a week this summer teaching private and group voice lessons, I led the music for an old-fashioned camp meeting, I held a revival meeting in which I did both speaking and singing, and I led the music for multi-day retreat. I am not overstating when I tell you that the Holy Spirit has touched many lives in a powerful way through these ministry events! I have seen people born again and filled with the Holy Spirit, as well as encouraged and inspired in powerful ways. You are such a significant part of all of these things and I want you to know that together, we are making a difference as we glorify God and inspire people to know Him and His goodness!

The new RV has been such a blessing throughout the thousands of miles on the road and has enabled me to avoid hotel expense and many travel related headaches. Kathryn has been with me on many of these trips and we thank each of you that have partnered with us financially (and continue to) on the transportation project!

Through: the single

I have also been working on a new recording. The first single, Through, is finished and has been released on all streaming platforms. There is also a lyric video on my YouTube channel. (Please visit the channel and make sure to “LIKE” whatever you watch, "SUBSCRIBE" to the channel, and “SHARE” any videos. This is a great and FREE way you can support what I do and it ensures you will be notified when I post something new.)

We have recorded tracks for 9 more songs and I am scheduled to record vocals on those over the next few weeks. I am a co-writer on 3 of the songs and I am so excited to share an album of wonderful songs. I will be releasing more singles off of the album over the next few months and then plan to have a full album ready to be released in early 2025!

Tracking day, October 22, 2024

Speaking of recording, I also have recorded a new Christmas single that I will be releasing in just a few weeks. I’m not yet revealing what song I’ve recorded but I will say that it is a classic Christmas carol that many have requested. Stay tuned to my social media and you’ll be the first to know which song I’ll be sharing with you and when!

Through: the devotional

Through: the devotional

As I mentioned above, on October 11th, I released a new single, Through. This is a song that I co-wrote with 2 amazing musicians and writers here in Nashville. If you haven’t heard the song yet, I encourage you to check it out on any streaming platform and be blessed! I truly believe the Holy Spirit inspired and directed us in the writing and recording of this song and I know that many people all over the world need this message. I would ask you to share it with your family, friends, and anyone else you can think of!

I believe in the message of this song so strongly that I sensed the Holy Spirit leading me to expand on it by writing a 7-day devotional on the same theme. Everyone is or will be going through something and I want to encourage people in every way that I can. This book is chock-full of Scripture and also includes some of my personal testimony. I know it will be a blessing to you and all who read it!

Through: the devotional is available on this website (if you buy it on the website I will sign it) and also on Amazon in both print and ebook format. (By the way, I would be so grateful if you would leave a positive review on Amazon. This is very helpful to me!)

Get your copy today and grab a few more for Christmas gifts!

Family news

Steve Smith, my brother.

If you have not already heard, my brother, Steve, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, September 7th after a year-long battle with cancer. Thank you so much for joining me and my family in prayer over him throughout this past year.

We are truly rejoicing that Steve is with Jesus and that he is no longer suffering. Of course, we miss Steve and we are still processing the life changes that come with losing a close family member. My entire family appreciates your continued prayers as the Lord brings us to mind.

Here is a link to his obituary if you have interest in reading it.

Denzil Smith, my father

About 5 weeks after my brother passed, my dear father, Denzil Smith, also went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 11th. I wish I had space to share with you the details of his departure - it was a testament to a life lived for the glory of God! He was not only my dad, for the formative years of my life, he was my pastor. He was a faithful man who loved Jesus with all of his heart and who passed on to me a heart for worship and thanksgiving. Ever since giving his life to Jesus at the age of 13, he lived to see Him in person and he got to do that nearly one month ago!

While I miss my dad, I find myself smiling more than crying because He is with Jesus! Thank you for praying with us for him so many times over the past few years. He has made it safely home!

If you would like to read more about him, here is a link to his obituary.

Emmie Faye Smith

Lest things seem to get morose, we are so excited to announce the birth of our precious granddaughter, Emmie! She joined us on September 12th and we are overjoyed! As you can see, she is beautiful and I can tell you that she is sweet and cuddly. When we’re not on the road, we are doing our best to spend as much time as possible with her. (It is getting harder than ever to get Kathryn to leave home since we now have both Samson and Emmie to love on!) Many of you may have met my son, Nic, who traveled with me for many years on the road. Emmie is Nic’s daughter.

So . . . we are in that interesting season of life where we are saying goodbye to some loved ones and hello to brand new loved ones. Through it all, God is faithful and good!

Finally . . .

I’d like to see you in 2025!

I’m available for concerts, church services, revivals, speaking engagements, men’s events, banquets, and nearly any event that involves a singer and/or inspirational speaker.

Check with your church leadership or Gospel music promoter and ask them to consider bringing this ministry to your area. We promise to glorify God and inspire people!
